easy.rider Glacier Tek Coolvest Product Review

I took the coolvest to the Honda Hoot in Knoxville from Florida. I was wearing the coolvest with 1 set of phase change packs in it and a mini cooler strapped to the luggage rack with another set of packs on ice. The packs stay very cool for 1.5 to 2 hours. When they stopped cooling or I was fueling up at about 90-120 minutes I swapped them. They work great. I was riding 10-12 hours per day and I never dehidrated at all and it was HOT. I started with a cooler full of ice and bought 1 bag to fill it during the day. This product made a long ride in the heat a pleasure. I was always cool.

I gave the coolvest a tough test on a 93 degree day with high humidity here in Florida. I was wearing it under a heavy leather jacket. It was cool. Very little downside to wearing a jacket except for sweating arms. It was really hot and the sun was brutal but I felt great.

The packs charge (freeze solid) at a temperature about 50 degrees. There are 3 ways to fully charge the packs. They will be rock solid even using the refrigerator which is my favorite of the 3 ways.

1) On the road toss them in a plastic bag full of ice for 30 minutes.

2) Put them in the freezer for 1 hour.

3) Put them in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

The Coolvest

You wear the vest high up on your torso and tight so that it can suck the heat out of your organs. It has straps to pull it tight on the sides and velcro over the shoulders to raise the height of the vest and packs. The sides are open for ventilation. Once you adjust it you only need to use the zipper.

This is the vest. One size does fit all. The side straps pull it tight, after that you just use the zipper.

This velcro adjusts the height for different size riders.

Here is the inside with the packs sticking out of the pockets.

The packs look like water in vynal pouches. Each pack is divided into 4 sections for flexiblity.

They crystalize in just a couple of minutes then freeze solid.

This is a wrangler lined vest that I had pockets sewn into to hold the packs. It looks much better on the road and is very warm when the sun goes down and I remove the packs. I used a vest that fits tight and cut it open at the sides. I used laces to keep the vest tight.

The red box is the cooler.
